Our Story
Davis & Company, Ltd. began as Davis Adjustments and Investigations in January 1977, founded by Gregory T. Davis in Lisle, IL. With a $4,000 loan, Davis started the business, becoming a Certified Member of the National Association of Marine Surveyors a year later. In 1979, the company incorporated as Davis & Company, Ltd.
In 1988, Frank Taft joined as Marketing and Operations Manager, leading to significant growth. The company expanded its team and opened new branches in Bloomington, Milwaukee, Toledo, Holland, Cleveland, St. Louis, and Cincinnati by 1991. After a strategic pause, a Ft. Lauderdale office opened in 1994.
In 1995, Davis Consulting Group was formed for specialized forensic investigations but was sold in 2012. The company moved its headquarters in 1996, doubling its space and upgrading facilities. Over the years, Davis & Company, Ltd. has received numerous industry accolades, including the Marine Surveyor of the Year Award in 2010.
